My Church
Nature provides me, and so many others, with a sense of calmness that is impossible to find anywhere else. Hunting will make you grateful for what you have and show you that sometimes life isn’t that serious. I believe hunting is one of the best ways to develop a deep-rooted connection with the man above. You will learn so much about yourself when you venture into the wilderness, gaining a deeper appreciation for life. I have been hunting for a long time, and I would surely be lost without it.

Meat
Wild game meat provides some of the best meat on the planet. Looking for a new taste in the kitchen? There are a variety of animals from all over the world that will surely excite your taste buds. If you like chicken, hunt turkeys. If you like beef, hunt whitetails. There is something for everyone in Mother Nature. In my opinion, this is the one of the most important reasons why someone should get into hunting.

The Bond
Finding a good group to hunt with can be challenging, and at times, it might even feel impossible. But once you do, it will have you hooked. I always enjoy being around my fellow hunters and hearing all their stories. In Pennsylvania, our opening day is like Christmas for hunters. We have a big group of guys that all go to camp the day after Thanksgiving in hopes of finding the big one. We stay at camp the night before and just enjoy each other’s company. This connection with people is one of my favorite parts of hunting.

The Chase
Chasing animals is one of the most fun and relaxing elements of hunting. I absolutely love chasing whitetails. By “chase,” I mean finding where they are likely to be, setting up a climber, and waiting. Hearing that distinct cadence of footsteps on the leaves is, without a doubt, my favorite sound in the whole world. It means something is about to happen. You never truly know what it is until you look back and see. Sometimes it’s a doe, but for that one time it’s a big old buck—it just gets your heart racing. For those who don’t like this style of hunting, I suggest turkey hunting. It can be a run-and-gun situation, which is very exciting. When a mature bird comes into the call and its gobble echoes through the trees, it doesn’t get more thrilling than that. Or, if you just want to have a good time with your buddies, grab a .22 and go chase some squirrels. The unknown is what I am obsessed with in hunting.

Tradition
Whether you like it or not, hunting is in our DNA. Technology has ruined hunting for many, but when I am on my phone or computer too much, I don’t even feel human. Hunting makes me feel alive and in touch with my soul. Much of the hunting I have done feels very natural; it seems almost instinctual. Bowhunting is a great way to feel connected to the animal and to yourself. Since you have to be within 40 yards of the animal, you will learn so much about them and about yourself. We wouldn’t be here today without hunting—it’s in our blood.

Benefits of Purchasing a License
Hunters are key contributors to conservation. Much of the revenue from hunting licenses goes toward animals, whether through habitat improvements by your state agency or the introduction of certain species to the environment. Balancing ecosystems is a huge reason to hunt, as many areas are overpopulated, leading to unhealthy herds.

Hunting is Essential.
